Non-Opioid Pharmacology and Pain Management for Nurses

This continuing education course provides nurses with a comprehensive review of non-opioid pharmacology and evidence-based pain management strategies. The course examines commonly used non-opioid medications, including acetaminophen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), adjuvant analgesics, topical agents, and nonpharmacologic interventions. Emphasis is placed on safe medication administration, pharmacologic mechanisms, side effects, contraindications, patient education, and nursing responsibilities related to pain assessment and monitoring. 

The course also addresses multimodal pain management, medication safety, high-risk populations, and strategies to reduce medication-related complications. Nurses will apply clinical judgment and evidence-based practices to improve patient comfort while minimizing risks associated with pain management therapies.
